Meet our Youth Board!


Liv Berg

​Liv Berg was born in Los Angeles, California in the year 2002. She is going to be an eleventh grader at Beverly Hills High School this upcoming year. Besides being an ambitious student who challenges herself to take APs and Honors classes, Liv participates in several extracurricular activities such as choir, the lacrosse team and the business division of the robotics team at her school. She has also been studying piano at the Colburn School since she was seven years old! Liv is passionate about history, music, writing and activism. She hopes to pursue a career in at least one of these things! Becoming a member of the Ghana Educational Collaborative is something Liv is extremely excited and proud of. Through the GEC, she hopes to change the world, as well as herself, for the better!

Zoie Gabrielle

Zoie Gabrielle Monroe was born November 8, 2003. She is the daughter of Roman and Christie Monroe. She hails from Bueche, La. and is currently a 7th grader at Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At Sacred Heart, she is an honor roll student, participate in school choir, Library Leader Club, and Volleyball. Zoie is also very active in her community organizations as well. She participates in Girl Scouts, Church Altar Server, 4-H Livestock Program, and Southern University Ag Center Jr. Horse Show Member. Upon Graduation in 2018 from Middle School she has plans of attending Baton Rouge High where she will be on the track for Veterinarian Tec Program. This is to assist with entering college in Animal Science Pre-Vet Program. Zoie aspire to be a Large Animal Veterinarian someday. In Zoie’s spare time she is an avid reader and animal caregiver. She currently has four sheep, one horse and three cows. Zoie is excited about being a part of the GEC to share her agricultural experience with the students. 


Madelyn Graves

Madelyn Graves was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in May of 2000. She is currently a freshman at Louisiana State University where she studies Mass Communications. She loves baking, and works at Cookies by Design where she decorates sugar cookies. She is also a member of Phi Mu sorority where she is the Multimedia Assistant, and loves being involved in such a wonderful organization that empowers young women. In addition, she also attends weekly bible study and tutors middle school and high school children in Math and English. After college she hopes to travel abroad, become the public relations professional for a business or a nonprofit, and possibly wants to teach in the future. She loves helping others, especially children, and believes she can make an impact through the GEC! ​

Megan Gremillion

Megan Gremillion was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is currently a student at Louisiana Tech University, studying Biology and pursuing a career in medicine. Beyond the books, Megan is involved in Kappa Delta Sorority, Union Board, and Student Recruiters. Megan is also a mentor with the Youth Empowerment Program of Ruston! She enjoys art, music, and serving others. Megan understands the power of education and recognizes the impact it has made in her life. Through her years in school, she has become extremely passionate about helping others and believes every child has the right to education. Megan is thrilled to be able to make a difference in the world and in the lives of Ghanaian youth through the Ghana Educational Collaborative!!​

Rachel Gu

Rachel Gu was born in 2002 in Denver, Colorado. She is currently a sophomore attending Cherry Creek High School and will graduate in 2020. She is part of Cherry Creek High School’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and enjoys helping set up events at Creek such as Red Ribbon Week and Ethnic Fest. Other than school clubs, Rachel is a dedicated student and challenges herself by taking advanced AP and Honors classes. Rachel enjoys using her own talents to support her community and has played piano at many benefit concerts to support Haiti after the earthquake, Doctors without borders, and the Colorado Federated Women’s Club (Chalets). She takes satisfaction in volunteer work and was induced as a National Junior Honor Society member at her middle school. She is also active in her church youth group and attended a mission trip to Wind River Reservation, Wyoming. Rachel is passionate about education and is excited to be Ghana Educational Collaborative Youth Board member!

Jenna Winocur

Jenna Winocur was born in Denver, CO in 1998. She graduated from Slavens K-8 in 2013, and she will be graduating from Cherry Creek High School in spring 2017. She will be attending Cornell University in the fall. Jenna became interested in African education in fourth grade when she studied the country of Cameroon. Ever since Jenna has written extensively about Africa and became passionate about the subject of education. She became a Board Member for the GEC in 2011. For over 3 years, Jenna was a reporter for Scholastic Kids Press Corp and covered a variety of news stories including the Presidential Debate, interviewing the director of the U.N about the Haiti earthquake, and an article about the GEC organization. In order to write the article about GEC’s impact on Ghanaian students, she was fortunate enough to have met one of the first students to receive funding from the GEC, William Yakah.  She and William formed a close bond during the interview and they have kept in touch ever since. She helped give William the opportunity to continue his higher education at Michigan State. He never fails to inspire her. When Jenna is not at school you can find her doing fundraisers for the GEC, drawing, competing in DECA, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), going to Geneva Glen Camp, or texting William!
